This course expands on the popular basic ethics course
offered on NALA Campus Live! since the program began. It focuses on
complex ethics issues faced by paralegals and legal assistants working
in law firms, governmental agencies and corporations, with particular
emphasis on the unauthorized practice of law, conflicts of interest and
confidentiality. The rules, regulations, and responsibilities guiding
the ethical behavior of paralegal professionals are discussed, including
case law, the ABA Model Rules and NALA’s Code of Ethics and Guidelines
for the Utilization of Legal Assistants.
