This intermediate level course covers forcible entry and detainer (FED) proceedings used to remove possessors of real property. There will be a review of common law leasehold estates, basic eviction procedures for residential and commercial leases, remedies sought by landlords, defenses raised by tenants, types of hearings in FED court, and tasks that paralegals may perform for FED cases. Written materials will include suggestions for FED case preparation, lists of problems to avoid, and other helpful lists tailored to the duties of legal assistants.

Glenn A. Leier is a member of the Advanced Paralegal Certification board of NALA and a former member of the NALA Certifying Board. He is an attorney and a shareholder with Brindle, McCaslin & Lee, P.C., Portland, Oregon. His practice focuses on real estate, leasing, business, employment, wills, and probate. He has taught real property law to paralegals for 18 years for the College of Legal Arts and also teaches a business entities course for real estate agents at Portland Community College. He has a BA in journalism from the University of North Dakota and a JD from the University of Utah College of Law.
